According to the Washington Post,
The Vatican's newspaper has finally forgiven John Lennon for declaring that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, calling the remark a "boast" by a young man grappling with sudden fame. The comment by Lennon to a London newspaper in 1966 infuriated Christians, particularly in the United States, some of whom burned Beatles' albums in huge pyres.Yoko Ono remains unforgiven.

what's to forgive??? the Beatles were/are more famous than JC. the Beatles were real...John Lennon was real...as opposed to JC, who is just a fictional character in some mythical book. the Beatles were original, opposed to the Christ child story which was SO played in other religions WAY before JC. before the Catholic church starts handing out forgiveness, they ought to see if the likes of Galileo and the millions they tortured and murdered in the name of God forgive them. i think not...
