Where's Your Jesus Now, Michael Vick?

About a year ago I posted on Michael Vick, the Washington Redskins running back who was facing federal charges on dog fighting. At that time he was making a big deal about finding Jesus.

Jesus might not want much to do with Vick, but twenty-two of his dogs have been saved, taken to Utah's Best Friends Animal Sanctuary where they are being rehabilitated. Four of his tortured dogs, Meryl, Georgia, Denzel, and Cherry, will be featured on National Geographic's show Dogtown.

In April 2007, the nation was shocked when dozens of traumatized pit bulls were discovered on Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vicks property. Follow the journey of four of the most challenging Vick dogs as DogTown helps rehabilitate them.

Vick is currently serving a 23-month sentence in Leavenworth, Kansas, and is facing bankruptcy. He was suspended from the NFL. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

Ex-alcoholic Professional Pool Hustler Gives Ex-alcoholic Professional Pool Hustlers a Bad Name

Dr. (of theology and ministry) William H. Crews is a televangelist starring in his own show, The Awakening Hour. He was arrested on July 27 for driving under the influence and violating state liquor laws. This arrest came two days before he was arrested at his home on a charge of criminal domestic violence. The police report states that Crews came home drunk and argued with his wife, Dr. (of ministry) Freda Crews. Fearing for her safety she grabbed a gun and locked herself in a bathroom. From there she called a relative who then called the police.

Freda Crews is a licensed professional counselor and certified clinical mental health counselor who also writes books on depression, grief, and marriage. She hold two doctorates. Not only did this versatile scholar receive a doctorate from the International University for Graduate Studies, in St. Kitts, West Indies, but she's also the Dean of the University!

At the time of his first arrest William Crews complained to police that he has a heart condition that requires him to drink a small amount of alcohol and that he'd only had half a bottle of wine before he was stopped by the troopers. He failed a field sobriety test. He spent the night in jail and was released the next day on bail.

William Crews was an alcoholic and professional pool hustler before he came to Christ.

His Little Minister Wanted a Collar of Its Own

Scott Murray, a pastor at the New Covenant Church of Clyde, North Carolina, broke his leg fleeing from the home of a female congregant. He allegedly broke into her house and stole a sex toy and a bottle of personal lubricant. He has since resigned and turned himself into police, who charged him with felony burglary and larceny.

The congregation is shocked, I say, SHOCKED!

ACLU Represents Pastor Imprisoned for Quoting Scripture

The ACLU has taken up the cause of Rev. Ed Pinkney, of Benton Harbor, MI, imprisoned for quoting scripture to a judge. Pinkney quoted Deuteronomy 28:14-22 which contains a series of curses including, but not limited to, fever, inflammation, blasting, and mildew.

14And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

15But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:

16Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field.

17Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store.

18Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.

19Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

20The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.

21The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it.

Chief Judge Alfred M. Butzbaugh did not take kindly to the narrative and sentenced Pinkney to prison.
