The makers of Pope Pius IX, The Pope's Cologne, is premiering their new fragrance, L'Innocence, based on a saccharine painting of the Virgin, the Child, and a lamb by William Adolph Bouguereau. Doctor Frederick Hass, the creator of this fragrance, describes it as,
soft and ethereal with a gentle opening ripple of cool lavender in the morning and evolving into a lingering, soft, powdery undertone of freshly-ironed linen at bedtime. It has, at once, a soothing, almost narcotic yet exalting quality seldom found in other fragrances.Really, I think I'd prefer a cologne based on this other painting of Bouguereau's. It's more, shall we say, priestly.
