Pope Advises on Financial Crisis

pope crustyAccording to the TimesOnline, the jewel-encrusted Pope Benedict, looking very much like a Fabergé egg, told the world yesterday,
He who builds only on visible and tangible things like success, career and money builds the house of his life on sand. We are now seeing, in the collapse of major banks, that money vanishes, it is nothing. All these things that appear to be real are in fact secondary. Only God's words are a solid reality.

The Trees Community Music Release

the trees community

A mystical musical Jesus commune from the 70s that made some really wild music, available now.
"The Trees" were a Christian, contemplative community and a music group. Based at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine in New York City, our traveling life in the 1970’s was shared publicly, across America and Canada, through original music as well as through other forms of service to others.

Vatican Blasts Democrats as "Party of Death"

inquisition

The Existentialist Cowboy points out the hypocrisy of the Catholic church, responsible for millions of deaths over the last 2000 years, in calling the Democrats the "party of death."
The Prefect of the Vatican's Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature has accused the U.S. Democratic party of transforming itself into a party of death. Raymond Burke, former Archbishop of St. Louis, lashed out at high profile Catholics - vice presidential candidate Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi - for misrepresenting Church teaching on abortion.

Abercrombie & Fitch Banned at BJU

abreadcrumb and fish

I'm not sure if Bob Jones University would ban the shirt shown above, but it just might. From their school dress code,
Brand Restrictions
Abercrombie & Fitch and its subsidiary Hollister have shown an unusual degree of antagonism to the name of Christ and an unusual display of wickedness in their promotions. In protest, articles displaying their logos are not acceptable to be worn, carried, or displayed (even if covered or masked in some way).
Could it be A&F is just too gay? Here's what Lou Sheldon from the Traditional Values Coalition thinks,
How would George Washington, Thomas Jefferson or Ben Franklin react to the pornographic clothing catalog produced by Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F)? The most recent catalog contains 120 photos of naked and nearly-naked men and women in various sexual poses. One poolside photo suggests bestiality and several show naked men romping in the surf together. The back of the catalog contains "Greatest Hits of Dirty Reading," which are books that have been barred from school libraries.
And Americans for Truth About Homosexuality has a boner for A&F as well, complaining that Abercrombie & Fitch, Walt Disney Co. Promote Homosexuality 100%.

Blessing of the Waves

blessing of the waves

Muslims, Jews and Christians blessed the waves last Sunday at Huntington Beach, CA, by pouring a bowl of holy water in the ocean.

Digger Green, a 52-year-old native of Queensland, Australia, told reporters,
This is my life. It is my church.
I can dig it. The beautiful, changing color of the waves, the power of the ocean, the waning significance of human endeavor, the lovely feel of the water, and the joy of playing in it, all are what I imagine believers might feel when they're in church, but what I never did - there. The waves don't need to be blessed, however. They are a blessing in themselves. They bless us.

Some of His Best Friends are of the Homosexual Persuasion

gay tattoosAccording to the TelegraphUK, "Rev Dr Peter Mullen is Rector of St Michael Cornhill and Chaplain to the Stock Exchange," which makes him more than qualified to float a new idea about those of the homosexual "persuasion."

Mullins wrote in this blog,
It is time that religious believers began to recommend specific utilitarian discouragements of homosexual practices after the style of warnings on cigarette packets: Let us make it obligatory for homosexuals to have their backsides tattooed with the slogan SODOMY CAN SERIOUSLY DAMAGE YOUR HEALTH and their chins with FELLATIO KILLS. In addition the obscene "gay pride" parades and carnivals should be banned for they give rise to passive corruption, comparable to passive smoking. Young people forced to witness these excrescences are corrupted by them.
Mullen's explained his post saying,
I wrote some satirical things on my blog and anybody with an ounce of sense of humour or any understanding of the tradition of English satire would immediately assume that they're light-hearted jokes. I certainly have nothing against homosexuals. Many of my dear friends have been and are of that persuasion. What I have got against them is the militant preaching of homosexuality. [my emphases]
Mullen's lurid imagination, limited as it is to anal sex, does not have the capacity for anything as sophisticated as satire. Homosexuality is not limited to males. Indeed some women are sexually attracted to other women, and even among men, homosexuality is expressed in a panoply of sexual play. The zenith of homosexual expression is not, as Mullens would have us believe, anal sex.

American Family Association Quiz - "Shoud (sic) You Vote for Obama?"

Of course, you knew this would involve fetuses.

plastic fetuses

The American Family Association, of Tupelo, Mississippi, is promoting a quiz designed by Brad S. O'Leary. O'Leary is hawking his new book, Audacity of Deceit, which is a clever twist on Obama's title, Audacity of Hope. (Touché!) O'Leary's book is published by WorldNetDaily Books.

Here's my favorite question.
Knowing that the next president may be able to appoint two or three U.S. Supreme Court Justices, who may be called to make rulings on the issue of Abortion; do you support or oppose a president who does not know when life begins?
No one KNOWS when life begins, though, I personally believe that life begins at 40.

Here are my results,
Thanks for taking The Obama Test! You AGREED with the Barack Obama position on 36 of the 48 test questions. This means you agree with the Obama position 75% of the time. I hope this will help you make an informed decision on Election Day.
